i was going to do a "september favorites", but as i was writing it, i realized i didn't have any. so i'm writing this one instead. i plan activities for a youth group every wednesday, and i find it super hard to do. i always look on pinterest and youtube for ideas, but most of the time i'm out of luck! here are some ideas i've done with my youth group that have really been a success.
1 / clothes swap
my youth group did this right before school started. we had each one of the girls bring any clothes / shoes / jewelry that they didn't need, and had a swap! one of the rules my advisor sat was that how ever many things you brought was how many things you got to pick out, so it was fair. (ex-if you brought 2 things, you got to pick 2 things) if there is any left over, take it to your local d.i. / goodwill / thrift store.
2 / family feud
we came up with some questions, and "surveyed" our priesthood / relief society members for the answers. we then split into 2 families, young men and young women. we had a gameboard, a bell to ring, and a ton of fun!
3 / makeover
we had a makeup artist in our ward who came in and taught us how to use our makeup / what products to use / how to clean/prepare our faces for makeup, and how to clean our brushes. it was super fun and i got a ton out of it!
4 / card night
we had a youth leader (who loved cards) come and teach us how to play (appropriate) card games. we played cards all night long!
5 / make your own pizza party
we had a make your own pizza party in the kitchen of our church. we bought some already made (roll ) dough, sauce, cheese, and a ton of toppings, and made little tiny pizzas for everyone in the group!
6 / recipe exchange
around the end or the beginning is the best time to do this activity. everybody is to bring 3 recipies of their choice, print out enough copies for everyone, and everybody gets to go and take some.
7 / game night
perfect last-minute activity. have everyone bring a board game of their choice, and play them! super simple and super fun.
8 / talent show
another fun one to do at the end of the year. have each girl show a talent! it can be a dance, playing an instrument, singing, showing some artwork, whatever they want to do to show off their talents!
9 / temple pictures
the wednesday before school started, we went to the temple and took group pictures, we went and had ice cream as a treat after.
10 / cupcake wars
this is a fun combined activity. give each team some random ingredients (syrup, chocolate eggs, candy canes, oranges, etc) and give them a time limit to make cupcakes. have the leaders be judges. and decide a winner!
11 / diy night
have a night where you do a couple easy diys on pinterest. super simple and easy!
12 / target scavenger hunt
split into teams, give each team a list of items they need to collect, and tell them not to be rude to customers while doing it. first team that doesn't break the rules and comes back with all the stuff is the winner!
13 / grocery shopping list
give each member a $300 fake shopping budget, have them make a list, and take them to the grocery store. see if all the groceries they get match their budget. closest one wins!
14 / a "walk into your future"
we did this, and it was by far one of my favorite activities! we had one room that was "the wedding room". there was wedding photo albums, a wedding dress, wedding decor, flowers, and a wedding cake. we went in and talked about everything that went into a wedding. themes, dresses, flowers, venues, bridesmaids and groomsmen, receptions, etc. we then walked into "the newlywed room". it was filled with ramen noodles/macaroni and cheese, $200 worth of fake money, toilet paper, toothpaste, presents, wedding thank you cards, a christmas stocking, etc. the ramen noodles and macaroni represent what you will more than likely be eating for a bit. the 200 dollars represented the "newlywed paycheck", the toilet paper and toothpaste represent the coomon debates, toilet paper over? or under? squeeze the tube or roll the bottom of tube? , presents represent the little gifts your spouse will leave for you on occasion, wedding thank you cards, you get the point, and the christmas stocking represents the constant decision of which holiday will you spend which family with. the last room was "the children's room". toys and books scattered, baby books, backpacks / homework, dance costumes and baseball stuff, and so on. we went into what it is like to have children, and the fun experiences that went along with it. very fun, special activity.
15 / quilt night
we had a yw who had just recently lost her mom. we put up a quilt and tied it. we then took fabric markers and we each wrote a message in each one of the squares for her. it was very sweet and fun.
16 / birthday dessert
on each girls birthday, we take every one of the girls out for dessert. each girl gets to pick a dessert, and eat it for each girls birthday. it's easier then having to pick out gifts for them every year!
hope this post gave you some ideas on things to do for youth activities!
if you do any of these activities, please tweet or instagram photos (@candireviews) or email them to me candireviewsblog@gmail.com. i would love to see them!

review / queen of the clouds (blueprint edition) - tove lo
i was super excited when i heard this was coming out, now it's here!! now i'm gonna review it. because duh
i love tove. i've loved tove before the first queen of the clouds came out. i have a fan instagram for tove (@iamtovelo). if i say anything negative in this review, don't take it that i hate tove or anything, it is just my honest opinion! which is what i had intended when i started this blog. all honest opinions. i still love and support tove no matter what.
when i heard this was coming out, i thought this would be a lot like ellie goulding's "halcyon days", which was kinda like a part 2 to "halcyon". "halcyon days" was "halcyon" except with 5 new songs. i thought tove was going to do the same thing. put qotd and truth serum together, and add some new music. nope. this album is basically "queen of the clouds" and "truth serum" put together. which i thought was kinda lame. i already own "queen of the clouds" and "truth serum". why do i need them both on one album? in my honest opinion, blueprint was kind of a waste, since most of her fans already have all of this music. i'm not saying that the songs suck or that she sucks, i'm just saying that i would do it different. i wouldn't have released it unless it had some new stuff on it, so long time fans weren't just getting a repeat of stuff.
rate 7/10
would i reccommend it? / if you have "queen of the clouds" and "truth serum", no. if you don't, absolutely.

review / all the bright places by jennifer niven
i remembered to post today! i feel so accomplished. i just finished this book (all the bright places by jennifer niven) and thought i would review it for all of you. hope this helps you all!
i am always looking for a good book. zoe sugg reccommended this one in a favorites video a while back, and i knew i had to read it. if you don't know what the book is about, it is about a boy named theodore (who goes by finch) and a girl named violet. they both ended up on top of a bell tower with the same vision in mind, to end their lives. i'm really into books about people who commit/want to commit suicide. i don't know why, don't ask. but something i really enjoyed about this book is finch and violet's thought process. why finch hated his life and why he wanted to end it, and why violet wanted to do the same. like, finch is obsessed with knowing anything and everything about suicide. he knows statistics, several different ways how to do it that i didn't even know, (and i know a lot!) and has read who knows how many articles and stories about suicide. it's kind of insane! violet has just been miserable since her sister died, and doesn't want to deal with the pain anymore. this book took a bit for me to get into, i struggled trying to start it. but as soon as i got into it, i couldn't stop reading it. at the very end i started to struggle again, but then fell back into it. so, if you have trouble starting books, this one might not be for you. it also talks a ton about suicide (and death in general) which i don't mind, but i know some people don't like reading about that. in finch's chapters, there is a ton of swearing. (which again, i don't mind. if you know me personally you know i swear a ton.) so i wouldn't reccommend it to younger people. it is a young adult book, so i would say it would be for anyone older than 14. it also goes into a ton of detail about sex and kissing, so it might not be your book if you don't like reading it. overall review-not my favorite book, but for sure in the top 10. as soon as i got into it, i laughed with them, i cried with them, i freaked out with them, and i got angry with them and threw the book across the room on multiple occasions. i would reccommend it if you are into books with a little bit of smut, death talks, and language.
rate / 9/10
do i reccommend? / if you are okay with a bit of smut, language, and death talks, for sure!

review / panic! at the disco-victorious
2 blog posts in one day. what??? i was planning on blogging everyday this week, but i forgot to blog yesterday, so 2 today!
i have been anticipating this song since i first heard about it. i loved hallelujah and death of a bachelor, so i couldn't wait to see what this one sounded like.
someone on twitter said that it's a mix between queen and panic! at the disco. which is exactly how i would describe victorious. it's a different sound than the typical panic! at the disco, which is how hallelujah and death of a bachelor are, so i kinda expected it. when i first heard it, i surprisingly really liked it!! i'm not normally way into queen-type-sounding stuff, but the twist that they put on it really drew me in. it has been on repeat all day long (that includes right now) and it will be on repeat for a long time to come.

would i reccommend it? / yes!
review / clean and clear advantage acne control moisturizer
i mentioned in my august favorites that i haven't been able to find any good moisturizers. i was wandering around the store and i saw this one. i half got it because it was $6, half because it had acne medicine in it, so its a moisturizer and a treatment in one. kill 2 birds with one stone, right? not really. i didn't like this moisturizer. i put it on before i went to bed, and when i woke up, there were tons of little baby whiteheads. at first i thought it was just a coincidence, so i used it for 2 more days. still, little baby whiteheads. when i quit using the product is when they went away. although this moisturizer moisturised my skin well, the mass amounts of little spots is something i can't live with.

would i reccommend it? / no

review / halsey-new americana video!
i know i said i would post twice last week, i had a massive medical issue and ended up having massive dental work :(. i'm so sorry!!
but i have 3 lined up this week, that are ALL reviews. this one, a moisturizer, and i plan on reviewing the new panic! at the disco song coming out on tuesday!!
okay, lets gooo
i was basically screaming throughout the whole video. it really showed the true meaning of 'new americana'. what halsey wanted it to mean. listening to it, it sounds like a ton of grunge/stoner kids claiming to be the next big thing. but it has a deeper meaning, and halsey brought it out for everyone to see. they take her, they tie her to a tree, they pour gasoline on her and around her, and then they light the fire. but she didn't die, she got away. with the help of 'the new americana'. the video kind of has that divergent/hunger games feel that brings even more meaning into the video. the very end is honestly the best part. 'drive' in the background, halsey waking up, picking up the car keys and radio, and hugging the radio. which makes you automatically think that drive is the new single. or thats what halsey wants us to think :).

would i recommend it / yes go watch it right now!

review//tresemme luxurious moisture shampoo + conditioner
1/2 blog posts this week, since i forgot to post last week!
so as you know from my last blog post, i love the dove daily moisture shampoo. but the last 2 times i've gone to get it, it's not there! the last time i got the dove intense moisture shampoo and it didn't work very well. my hair had a hard time staying clean for longer than 2 days. (i normally go 4 days without washing my hair, and i put dry shampoo in my hair the 4th day.) so when i went the other day to get it and it still wasn't there, i decided to get a different shampoo. and try a new conditioner. (if you read my last post, you know i hate conditioner and use hair masks in place of a conditioner) so i picked up the tresemme luxurious moisture shampoo and conditioner and review it!
the consistency of the shampoo is very thin and feels very watery (it isn't watery. it just feels watery.) so i thought it was going to be an oily product on my hair and got scared. after i scrubbed my hair and rinced it out, the first thing i noticed is that my hair gained volume, something i never got with the dove shampoo. it also made my hair very soft and smell amazing, which is always a plus. my hair doesn't feel greasy or oily at all, which is what i complain about with most shampoos. it made me very happy.
the consistency of the conditioner is about the same, thin and watery. which again, scared me, since the conditioners i've hated the most have been ones that have been this way. after i got out of the shower and started blowdrying my hair, i realized i've missed out on using conditioner for the past 6 months! it was so easy to brush through, took half of the time it normally does to blowdry, and actually 'conditioned' my hair! it was amazing!

would i reccommend it? yes!!

august favorites
i've been waiting to do a favorites post since i started here. now that august is finally over, i can! lets goooo
hair favorites
1 / dove daily moisture shampoo
'
the packaging just got re-designed so its a little bit different. but this is close to what it looks like.
i have struggled to find shampoos that work on my hair since forever. every shampoo i've ever tried-drugstore or high-end-makes my hair greasy and look oily. until i found this one. i can go 4 days without washing my hair when i use this product. which is not only a time saver, but it's really good for my hair as well. it is only 5.00, which isn't bad. and the payoff is absolutely incredible.
2 / dove intense repair hair mask
i'm a total cheater. i totally use this as a conditioner and not as a mask. conditioner is another thing i really struggle with! if you have a really good conditioner that you'd recommend, please feel free to shoot me an email (candireviewsblog@gmail.com) or leave a comment below so i can try it!
like i said, i totally use this as a conditioner, and it works really well! it makes the ends of my hair ridiculously soft and conditioned, for that matter. it doesn't make my hair greasy or oily at all! it is one of my absolute must-haves!
3 / dove replenish + care dry shampoo
really rep'in dove right now, aren't i?!
i hate dry shampoo. well, at least i used too. it always would make my hair more greasy then it was before. i also hate the white flaky bits of powder that would always show up in my hair. i was with my friend when she bought this, and she sprayed it in my hair to test it. it basically sucked half of the grease out of my hair! and the best part, no sign of white powder! i use this all the time!
4 / pantene flexible hold hair spray
my hair can never hold anything. curl my hair? looks like i didn't do my hair ate the end of the day. crimp it? basically falling out. try to hold it in the hairstyle i did? looks like a falling-out mess by the end of the day. its a mess! until, i found this. (note, i usually use either hold 4 or 5) it holds my hair all day long! and now, when i crimp my hair, it stays for several days compared to a couple of hours!
5 / tresemme platinum strength heat protect spray
i don't always put heat on my hair. but when i do, i protect it. i love this heat protect spray! it doesn't weigh my hair down or make it super oily, like heat protects have done to me in the past. and, of course, it protects my hair from the heat.
makeup favorites
6 / rimmel london lasting finish primer
this stuff is like glue. for your face! it really helps keep all my makeup in place. it doesn't make my skin look oily or feel sticky. must-have primer!
7 / covergirl outlast stay fabulous foundation
i always swore by the revlon colorstay foundation. it was the only foundation i ever really used. but it's $10 a bottle, and i went through the bottles fast, so i went for a cheaper alternative (which is this) and now i love it a million times more then revlon colorstay! it covers really well, it gives an amazing finish, and it stays! and it's only $8!!
8 / revlon colorstay concealer
i swear by this concealer. it's magic! it covers every mark, blemish, scar, dark circle, everything! plus, it not cakey and doesn't crease. it blends really well, and again, stays all day!
9 / revlon colorstay pressed powder
i know a lot of people who refuse to use pressed powders. i think they are crazy! i swear by powders. they set everything and keep everything in place. but anyway, this is my favorite powder. it gives off the perfect finish, it goes on smooth, and it sets everything!
10 / maybelline brow drama brow gel
brows are the absolute craze right now. (eyebrows on fleek... such stuff like that) and this stuff helps them be "on fleek". this product is one of those "flick of the wrist" products. once you get the hang of it, it's basically a "flick of the wrist", and it's on! and it looks good!
11 / maybelline blushed nudes palette
i love this palette. i love very light "blushed" baby pinks on my eyelids. (note, my eyes are blue) i think it brings out the color in my eyes! this palette has it all. all the blushy pinky tones i want to put on my eyelids. i find myself grabbing this more often then i probably should :)
12 / nyx proof it eye shadow primer
i love this stuff! again, basically glue on my eyelids. it is sticky when you first put it on, but after you put eyeshadow on, its not sticky at all! and it stays. all day long.
13 / loreal la nudes palette 1
when i'm not using the blushed palette, i'm using this. if i'm not going for a blushed look, i'm going for a nude or a gold one. this palette has it all. an amazing applicator blush, crazy-good quality eyeshadows, amazing eye looks for every color eye, i can go on forever if you'd let me!
14 / maybelline age rewind treatment makeup
i use this as an under-eye concealer as well as a highlighter. it is amazing for both. it "erases" my dark circles and brightens up my face.
15 / jordana 12hr liquid eyeliner pencil
i don't use eyeliner very often, but when i do, i use this. eyeliner is a drag. liquid applicators are a mess and make it really hard to put makeup on, and pencils don't have the same effect as a liquid. amiright? this lovely pencil is liquid eyeliner in a pencil. whaat? it makes it so easy to apply and it stays on for 12 hours. if not, more.
16 / loreal voluminous butterfly intenza mascara
i absolutely love the original butterfly mascara. i never thought anything could ever top it. it was my absolute one and only. that was until loreal topped themselves and made this. it is brilliant! i love the applicator, i love the mascara formulation, i love the look of it on my lashes, i love it all!
17 / revlon blush
simple. the original revlon blush. the pigmentation is amazing, the color payoff is gorgeous, it gives an absolute beautiful finish. i absolutely love it.
18 / jordana lip stains
i LOVE these! these are a great dupe for the revlon balmstains. (i honestly think they are a bit better...) the color payoff is gorgeous, they literally stain to your lips, they give a gorgeous matte finish which i die over matte lippies. these are absolutely amazing.
19 / revlon super lustrous lipsticks
i love these as well. for the exact same reasons i love the lip stains. color payoff? gorgeous. gorgeous matte, they don't stay on like the stains do, but its okay. love love love!
facial care
20 / cetaphil daily facial cleanser
i always switch cleansers and always go back to this! it keeps my face very clear, doesn't leave it oily, leaves my face soft, i could go on forever. the smell isn't my favorite thing, but i can by-pass the smell if that means a clear face.
21 / mac fast response eye cream
very pricey product. i was given this product as a gift about a year ago and i probably won't repurchase when it's gone due to the price. this has been a blessing to my undereyes. i have very dark dark circles underneath my eyes, and because of that they are also very dry. this product hydrates the underneath of my eyes and helps wipe my dark circles away. if anyone knows of a good dupe for this please email me @candireviewsblog@gmail.com or comment below. i will love you forever.
22 / yes to tomatoes makeup removing wipes
i love love love these! i would honestly recommend any one of the yes to brand makeup wipes! i'm singling these ones out because they are the ones i use. i love these! i switched from the cucumber ones to these ones when i had really bad acne a while back. they really help! and they take all of your makeup off!
23 / simple eye makeup remover pads
i use these when i can't get that stubborn last bit of eyeliner off. and they do just that! even the most stubborn eyeliner it wipes right off!
24 / biore deep cleaning nose strips
i hate to admit it, i have awful blackheads on my nose. they f***ing suck! these pull those suckers up and out of my face! and plus, they are a ton of fun to use after a face mask on a spa night ;)
read please! / i am currently in the need for a new moisturizer and treatment. if you have one that you like and would recommend, please either email me here or comment below! if i really like it i'll feature it in a future review post!
shower must-haves!
25 / olay daily exfoliating body wash
i have extremely sensitive skin. so body washes are a chore for me. i normally have to use the dove ones that stink really bad. thankfully, i didn't break out with this one! this one is very smooth on my skin, and the exfoliating beads are amazing! it leaves my skin feeling very soft and smooth. and not tight!
26 / eos shaving cream
i'm really bad at shaving. i always cut myself or leave razor burns up and down my legs. i never have with this product. this thing is brilliant! i think of it more as a lotion then as a shaving cream at times, that's how soft it is! and it smells like absolute heaven in a bottle.
27 / dove deodorant
i know this isn't a "shower" product, but i'm too lazy to give this it's own category. this deodorant is the best! it stays for 48 hours... no joke! and i get the one that smells like perfume, which is the one i linked below, because sometimes i forget to put on perfume and pass it off as perfume. oops!
entertainment / others
28 / nike free's
i'm not going to include a picture or a link to this one, because it's really up to you which one's you get. i bought a pair of free's recently because i'm trying to live a healthier life, (i'll let you know how it goes.. lol) and i thought they would get really excited. i work out in them all the time! and i love them! coming from someone who has sh*tty feet and hates running :)
29 / girl online by zoella
oh how i love this book, and i'm not even done yet! (super super close though. i want to do a review when i'm done with it) it is amazing! i'm already sucked into penny and noah's lovestory.. and i'm only halfway into it. i love the fact that zoe wrote about the book where it was based around a blog. hence "girl online". everytime i read one of penny's blog posts, i want to blog more and more! i love it and i'm excited to finish it and pre-order book #2!
30 / badlands by halsey
check out my badlands review here to go more into depth.
i love every song on this album. i literally feel like i'm "in the badlands" as i would put it. i love it. it's been a week since it came out and i still have it on repeat. and i love it. and i've left 3 links where you can buy the album + listen to it so if you haven't do it nowww!
31 / death of a bachelor by panic! at the disco
i love this song! panic!'s twist on frank sinatra, as i call it. brendon's voice in this song gives me goosebumps. badd! i can't wait until this album drops and i can scream the lyrics to every song on it.
now, i'm just name all of my favorite youtubers and why you should watch them, and then i'm going to be done.
32 / ellie + jared
they are the only daily vloggers that i actually watch everyday. there is something about them and their family that draws me to them. i don't know what it is, but hey, more views for them. right?
33 / aspyn + parker
i've watched aspyn's beauty videos since forever. and i've watched her vlog channel as well, but she never really posted on there. now that its aspyn and parker (who just got engaged and that makes me really excited) and their vlogging a lot more, i'm dead obsessed with both of them.
34 / colleen ballinger / psychosoprano
miranda's alter ego who i've been obsessed with since forever. i love her! she is crazy quirky and hilarious, as herself and as miranda! (i'm still waiting for her to get pregnant and announce it. hopefully soon!)
35 / eleventh gorgeous
tracy and stefanie keep me on my feet. they always are telling me about the newest products, their birchbox/ipsy/target/walmart subscription box openings, tasting new foods, on and on and on!
36 / zoella
total style inspiration forever! (her and sarah urie) she has always been one of the very few beauty vloggers i watch. she is so sweet and so grateful for everything. i totally love her!
watch all of them here

bandlands/halsey review
i've been wanting to do a badlands review since june. and now that it's out, i can!! if you follow me on twitter, (@tovesloves) you would know that i'm obsessed with halsey and have been counting down the days since the first. when this album came out yesterday, i was so excited. i woke up at 6 in the morning to listen to it before i had to leave for school. and may i say every second i spent waiting for badlands was well worth it. i am not disappointed whatsoever. i love every song, every lyric, every beat, absolutely everything. i think it might be my new favorite album! my only complaint is not towards halsey or the album, but towards my local target. i went in to go buy the cd today, and they said they aren't getting badlands cd's until labor day weekend. wtf target!!
rate// 10/10
would i recommend it?// absolutely GO BUY BADLANDS ON ITUNES NOW!!

quick tips// how to save money!
i hate when i don't have money. i feel dead when i don't have money. its kinda like a piece of me is gone, you know? here are some ways you can save money so you don't feel so empty.
1/ sales racks
sales racks are your best friend. i've found $100 dresses for $20 before from sales racks! if you see something in the store you want, wait a week and come back. more than likely it will be on the sales rack for half the price!
2/ samples
new lotion you want to try? before you go out and buy a whole bottle, see if the company has a sample on their website. companies tend to have free samples of new products so you can try them. then, if you like it, go get a full size!
3/ lowest to highest price
i tend to do a lot of online shopping (there isn't a ton of stores where i live. boohoo) and i always do lowest to highest price. i can get more stuff that isn't as expensive instead of 1 really expensive thing!
4/ coupon codes
another online shopping tip/ right before i check out, i always look up coupon codes for the store before i check out. weather its free shipping or 50% off. a deal is a deal, right?
5/ sales
if there is a sale, i am there. even if it isn't a really good sale, i'll still go look. who can pass up a sale?
6/ price match
walmart has a deal on lipsticks but you're at target? no problem. show the walmart ad at checkout, and they'll match the price! no running store-to-store for sales!
7/ reward programs
i can't sign up for reward programs, yet. but they have amazing deals for reward program members! sometimes its 30% off, sometimes its buy one get one free. hey, a deal is a deal, right?
8/ thrift stores/garage sales
i'm currently redecorating my room. i have my local 'garage sale' pages on my facebook, and i found some really nice (and adorable) pillows that i only paid a couple bucks for! i also got some picture frames that i'm gonna stain and redo. i only spent a couple dollars on the frames, and it will only cost me a couple dollars to redo them! if i would have paid full price they would have costed me an arm and a leg. it seems a bit crazy, and some people are totally againsted it, but garage sales and thrift stores at times can be my best friend.
9/ limit how much you can spend at the store
i need a new outfit for school, and i only want to spend $20. sounds impossible, right? a good tip is to only bring the $20 you want to spend. nothing more, nothing less. it will force you to only spend the $20.
those are my money saving tips. i really hope i helped you out! if you have any good money saving tips, please leave them in the comments below. i'm always looking for ways to save money!
next week will be a review, one that i'm really excited for! it will be an album review. if you know what album it is leave it in a comment below!! i'm so excited!!
until next week!
